Most people in business are being taught to buy leads and cold calling. The things people hate the most is death, taxes, car shopping, public speaking and now you can throw in cold calling. It is a long hard road and nobody likes it. No wonder 95 of the people who start their own home business do not make any money at all. Why is this happening in the greatest business model in the business world today?

Well there are a few reasons actually.

Nobody likes buying leads and cold calling. Calling a total stranger and giving them some pitch, nobody likes that. Been there done that it is horrible and brutal. Very few people can do that and succeed.

Cold calling is a long hard road most people will not choose. Most companies tell you to buy tons of leads and cold call them. Some people shy away from this business because they think this is the only way to work network marketing.

The other way you can market your business is actual marketing, imagine that what a concept. First of all it is ironic that the most network marketing companies do not teach marketing at all.

I have been with a few and they all say go out talk to tons of people by either buying leads, just plain cold calling, the 3 foot rule and everyone who is breathing is a prospect.

I have learned that most people who are breathing do not qualify as a business associate of any kind. You have people who have never owned a business before and they have never done any marketing at all of any kind.

Basically most companies send people out their among wolves and the last on standing might make some money. What an incredible injustice for such a great industry.

Then those people tell everyone they know not to get involved because it did not work for them and so on and so on. So now you have thousands of people who have been told not to get involved in the greatest business model ever in human history.

So I sat around and had to figure out why is this happening. For one thing most companies have great products but they leave the marketing up to you. You can't leave the marketing up to people who have not done any marketing at all. And maybe that is why a lot of these companies go out of business.

So what is the answer to all of this. Well you will probably have to go out and study marketing on your own like I had to do to figure it all out. It is well worth the time and effort.

If you are like me you want an endless source of leads without have to pay big bucks. I found a way to do just that without cold calling. Let's face it no one wants to cold call it is very uncomfortable for both people.

And besides when you cold call it feels like your bothering someone with a sales pitch. If you are doing your marketing right you do not need a sales pitch.

Well I could ramble on endlessly, but you get the point.

Many people think price is the major deciding factor when determining whether or not a broadband connection would be an ideal match for their Internet surfing needs. This could not be further from the truth.

Many people put the cart before the horse when searching for an internet connection. They evaluate everything but the most obvious. Consider this, while you may think you have your pick as to the type of service you receive, this may not be the case. Your first step should be to identify the providers of internet service in your geographic area. If you happen to live in a large city or suburb then you'll have many more options that someone who lives in the country. If this is the case, dial up may be your only choice.

Then there are the different service packages to choose from. This starts with considering whether or not you want a broadband connection for personal or business use. For instance, well known broadband ISPs such as Verzion and Verzon carry several different plans at different prices, with some being for business and others are for the home. Since Verzion and Verzon also provide digital telephone and cable TV services, they offer packages that allow you to save some money on two or three individual services by getting them all and bundling the payments. Some plans include a modem (for a few extra bucks a month if you don't buy it outright), others don't (if you have one). Verzion offers a plan that is just for Internet access only, as well.

Just as there are multiple things to consider when selecting an internet service provider, there are also multiple methods of payment as well. While many people pay on a month to month basis for service that is not your only option. Most of the companies will also allow you to pay for a years worth of service up front. This is a real benefit for those of you who have an income that fluctuates from month to month. This is a great option if you are truly satisfied with the service they provide and desire a significant discount.

On a positive note, the fact that web browsing with the old school dial-up connections are so outdated, just about all the major service providers have kept up with the latest trends in fiber optics and satellite technology. Today, not only can your computer reach speeds equivalent to 100 m.ph. on the highway, but so can your cell phone. The web surfer's new mantra is now, long live broadband.

The truth is, you are really only one step away from high quality high speed internet. The only remaining item you need is a decent computer. The good news is that if you purchased your PC within the last three to five years, you should be okay. However, if you still have an older computer, it may be time for an upgrade. The technology surrounding broadband almost requires many of the advanced features of a newer model PC.

NEW BEGINNINGS

Whether it is a new year or simply a new quarter or any new cycle in your life, any new beginning is generally exciting and there is a high sense of commitment and hope. Just like a newborn baby or a new career or a new fitness program – whatever you may be embarking upon – there is always that honeymoon period at the starting line that gets the juices flowing and gets you going.

With January typically being new year's resolutions time, I wanted to check in with you to see how your new year’s resolutions are coming along. Are you still committed? Are you still moving forward with excitement? Or have you fallen to the statistics of the other 80% or more that have given up already? Those mighty and brave souls that have thrown in the towel and reverted back to the normal routine of days gone by?

No worries. You are not alone. This is the tenuous time. This is where the rubber meets the road and I wanted to support you with my own four-part formula that I focus on every day. This formula serves as a daily reminder to keep going in my commitment of staying connected to what I want to accomplish in my life.

Did you know that it takes more courage to start something and move forward with it than the actual finishing of something? Think about that for a minute and apply it to your own life – to actually take action and move on an idea takes more energy, more time and more commitment than just the thought itself. Just like a car – it takes more gas to start the car than to stop it – that is why you generally get more gas mileage when you are on the freeways or going long distances without stopping versus when you stop and start, stop and start, stop and start your car over and over again running errands. Same goes for you, same goes for me, in our own lives and our own new beginnings, new goals, new resolutions.

Here is step #1 in keeping moving forward with this new year, or whatever new beginning you might be facing right now in your life.

1. Let go of THE PAST –

I encourage you to not live in the past for your past does not equal your present. Yet, I have found that the past (everything from childhood experiences and memories to recent tragic events and daily challenges) is the number one thing that holds you back. I have seen even in myself and my coaching clients the fear of starting something is always coupled with having that elusive possibility of not finishing it, exhibiting some residue from a past storm that just passed through your life, seemingly coming from nowhere. Even though that thought can loom before a start of something, the reality is you can’t finish something you haven’t started. One of my favorite quotes is, "You don’t have to be great to start, you do, however, have to start to be great" is applicable here. A new cycle or beginning is often a very exciting time filled with new beginnings, new ideas, a new semester usually at school, new hopes and dreams for the future. Don’t live in the future. Live in the now. It will be less scary and intimidating to start. Remember that today truly is the first day of the rest of your life. You are like a newborn baby with a clean slate. Once you surrender to that thought daily, for the next 30 days at least, you will habitually awaken with a much fresher look and keep moving forward.

2. Adjust your THINKING -

Your thoughts are what guide your direction and are what guides your expectations. Sometimes I’ve heard people say, "Well, I’m hoping for the best, expecting and preparing for the worst" – Is that effective? I don’t think so, I say expect the best, trust and be flexible in the process, focus on the greatest outcome possible for you and you will get what you focus on.

3. Take a step of FAITH

Action – the actual physical motion of forward movement specifically for what you want in life – is what follows your thinking. I once heard it said that God does not help parked cars, He works best with moving objects. So move forward with your options you see before you and if you don’t like them, move anyway. Do something different. Even if it may not make sense to others, keep that focus on what you feel in your heart is the best direction for you. Faith is following your heart. And relinquishing those fears of making mistakes will allow you to move forward and not stay paralyzed. "Analysis paralysis" won’t help either.

4. Hold on to HOPE

Having an open perspective every day and using hope as your anchor of your faithful movements forward is what is going to get you to crossing that finish line a lot sooner than without hope. In fact, I believe for me and also for you, that without hope, everything fails.

I wish for you the best in what is left in your new beginning – may your finish line experience be as memorable as your start. May you continue to find all your new beginnings to be exciting and scary, becoming an even happier and stronger you in the process.

Are resolutions an utter waste of time or is there something magical about setting the mind on a specific yearlong goal?

The end of the year, or the beginning of a new one can have a triggering affect for many people. Some take the time to reflect and anguish over missed opportunities. Others celebrate over newfound success. Whichever category you fell into last year, there is hope for you to turn failure and despair into success and celebration. Follow these 4 strategies for making your resolutions into your reality.

1. Get clear: Clarity is power. The key to turning resolutions into reality begins with getting a clear picture of the goal you desire. That goal must be crystal clear, ever present and attractive. Your mind is designed to bring into reality that which you deeply desire. However, in order to do that you must be able to transform those desires into a clear vivid picture. Nothing happens unless it first happens in the mind.

2. Maintain your focus: It is not enough to just get a clear picture of your goal once or twice and then move on to other things. In order to activate this law of mind you must maintain your focus for an extended period of time. Almost to a point of obsession. Eventually your mind will pick up and internalize your goal. At that point you will be led to success. Things will begin to fall into place. People who's assistance you need will begin to appear in your life. Ideas will spring into your mind and things will begin to happen that will seem almost magical. However these actions only occur once the goal is internalized. Internalization only happens by consistently maintaining the goal within the focus of your mind.

3. Trust: Many take this formula and simply don't believe it is in fact true. Yes they try these four steps, half-heartedly, but deep inside they don't believe they are capable of success. So when the mind begins to try to direct them, they doubt. They stall. They give up. In order for this mental guidance to work, you need to follow the two steps above, and then have enough faith to follow through on the inspirations and opportunities that will come your way. In short, you need to trust. If you are afraid to make errors or mistakes, get over it. You are going to make them anyway. Have fun making mistakes. Mistakes provide the best lessons in life. In addition, if you try something and it doesn't work, guess what, now you know what doesn't work. Now you are better than before. When it comes to taking risk, always remember the old basketball adage, "You miss every shot you don't take."

4. Create a support team: This final step is highly recommended. In reality, you can't make any resolution into a reality without the support, help or assistance of others. Yet by intelligently employing others you can manifest your desires much quicker. A good idea is to create an association with someone who is committed to a goal similar to yours. In fact, the more people you can put together that share the same goals the better the flow of ideas will be between the group. This can propel the attainment of success a thousand fold. Find people that share your desires and create a mastermind alliance with them.

The beginning of a New Year can be an exciting time for setting goals and creating a vision of the future that is inspiring. However to turn resolutions into reality takes focus and commitment. Use the four steps reviewed here to manifest your desires. Dare to dream bigger and act as if anything you desire can be yours. Then make it happen.
